Dr. Richard Vanek was born in New York City. He attended the University of Connecticut where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then graduated from UNC School of Dentistry with a DDS degree and continued his orthodontic residency program at UNC, culminating with a Masters in the Science of Orthodontics. In 1972, Dr. Vanek and his wife Diane moved to Jacksonville, where he joined Dr. Willis’ practice.

Dr. Vanek and Diane currently reside in Swansboro. They have two sons, Richard and Rodney, and five grandchildren. He has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, the Jacksonville Rotary Club, and served on the vestry at St. Anne’s and St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Churches. When not working, Dr. Vanek likes to relax, putter around the house, travel, and visit his grandchildren.

“I receive no greater satisfaction that seeing a patient smile after their orthodontic treatment is completed. The bonus is that their smile, without a single word, says thank you to us as well as to themselves for a job well done!”
